Dr. Subhash D.
Awale
Dr Subhash D Awale, born on
08.10.1949 is presently the Director of National Institute of
Industrial Engineering NITIE, Mumbai. He was Joint Educational Advise
(Tech.), Government of India
before he took up the Directorship of NITIE. He was Vice-Chancellor of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological
University, Lonere between
2000-2005.
He
holds a B.E (Civil), M.E. (Structures) Degree and Ph.D. from IIT Delhi in the
field of Technical Education particularly on the most critical issues on
Engineering Teachers. During 1998-99, he functioned as Member-Secretary of
All India Council for Technical education in addition to his duties in the
Ministry.
Over
the past 30 years, he has been actively involved in the field of Technical
Education as a Researcher, Teacher, Planner and Administrator and has handled
all aspects of Technical Education including Engineering, Technology,
Architecture, Management, Pharmacy, etc.
His
pioneering efforts in the establishment of IIT Guwahati,
IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore,
IIM Calicut, IITM Gwalior
and AICTE have been exemplary. His contributions as the National Project
Director of World Bank Project, UK-REC Project and CIDA funded Canada India
Institutional Co-operation Project have been widely recognized in India and
abroad. The Canada-India Institute Industry Linkage Project (CIIILP) in Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, and
Madhya Pradesh was his brain child.
A
widely traveled man within and outside the country, he has lectured extensively
in national and international conferences and has earned unique honors and
distinctions. He was nominated on the Council of Institution of Engineers for
1999-2000 under the category of eminent engineering personalities in India. In
addition to the above Dr Awale is a renowned
personality in the field of theatre, music, literature, poetry and has made
significant contributions.
